Sheikh Rashid has been reshuffled in the cabinet and the railway ministry has been taken back from him and he has been made the federal interior minister.
Earlier, Ijaz Shah had the Interior Ministry and Sheikh Rashid was the Railway Minister.
Azam Swati has been given the portfolio of Railway Ministry. Ejaz Shah has been given the portfolio of Minister for Narcotics Control. Azam Swati previously held the portfolio of the Ministry of Counter Narcotics.
Earlier on Friday, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh also took oath as Federal Minister. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Presidency, after which he was given the portfolio of Federal Minister of Finance.
It should be noted that this is the 15th ministry of Sheikh Rashid. For the first time in 1991, Nawaz Sharif became the Minister of Industry in the Cabinet. In 2002, Sheikh Rashid was also the Information Minister of former Prime Minister Jamali. In 2018, Imran Khan expressed confidence and handed over the portfolio of Railway Minister. It was Imran Khan who made Sheikh Rashid the Federal Interior Minister.
The Prime Minister had handed over the charge of Interior Ministry to Ijaz Shah in April 2019 and before that there was no official Federal Interior Minister.
