Permanent ban applications for more than 59 Chinese technologies in India including Tik Tok

New Delhi: Fearful of Chinese technology India has imposed a permanent ban on 59 Chinese mobile applications in its country including TikTok.

According to Indian media reports, government officials have cited privacy policy as the reason for banning these applications arguing that the companies are not cooperating with India.

India's Minister of Information Technology on Monday issued a notification banning 59 Chinese-made mobile applications, including Tik Tok, stating that the ban has been imposed on a permanent basis.

According to media reports, India had banned the companies in June last year after which they were given an opportunity to present their views, but the organizers did not cooperate in terms of security and privacy policy.

Applications that have been banned include Bytedance, TikTok, WEChat, Alibaba UC Browser and others. The notification said that the decision to impose a future ban was taken after consultation with security experts.
